5 Ways to Improve Candidate Loyalty

5 Ways to Improve Candidate Loyalty As the world of recruitment scrambles to keep pace with the momentum of digital progress and the age of disposability, candidate loyalty has been impacted along the way. There is a plethora of quality recruitment agencies in the market and â€" fortunately for us all healthy volumes of vacant roles available too. Good candidates can effectively pick and choose who to work with, and if it doesn’t work out move on to the next one. Securing the loyalty of those candidates is business-critical but in a crowded market, it can be challenging. We live in a world now where we expect immediate results and a quality service. There’s no literally no room for dawdlers. From a recruitment perspective, delivering a quality service means embedding a culture of relationship-building, prioritising this in all our encounters. Gone are the days of client-centric attitudes and expecting candidates to be available to us as and when we need them. Ramping up the quality of service that each and every member of a recruitment agency offers is crucial. It starts from the top and should permeate all the way through the organisation. 1. Explain why you’re different from the outset Candidate care begins at the first encounter. Securing buy-in as early as possible is critical because if you don’t, there’s every chance they won’t turn up to your interview at all.  From the first conversation with the candidate, communicate your point of difference, how you like to work, why you feel they’re suited to the role you’re working on, and how you’ll work together. If they’ve ever worked with recruiters before, there’s a strong chance they’ll have preconceived ideas about the way our industry works. By delving a bit deeper, it will be easier to forge a bond with the candidate and secure their buy-in. 2. Let them know they can rely on you Yes, there are multiple agencies and jobs out there, but most candidates are busy and just want one that they can rely on to find them a great role. If you are that agency, make sure they know about it! This doesn’t mean promising the world and not delivering.   But if you’re convinced you can help them, and they understand that too, you’ll always be someone they can come back to. 3. Manage expectations This is critically important. While you should excite and inspire the candidate with the potential roles you could offer, never promise them something you’re not 100% sure of being able to deliver on. It goes without saying that if you fall flat on your promise, you’ll come across as deceptive and inexperienced. The candidate will feel misled and will tell the world why you’re the worst in the industry. Needless to say, this could be incredibly damaging to your reputation. 4. Have a candidate champion As 360 ° recruiters, we’re busy. We don’t have time to get back to everyone, much as we would like to. Hiring a candidate champion who is responsible for staying in touch with candidates regularly will ensure they feel looked after. It will also help to keep their details updated and protect the integrity of their information. 5. Give them more than just a job Finding a candidate a job is one thing. Offering meaningful career advice, building a relationship, sharing your expertise and finding a candidate a job is something completely different. A candidate who has felt heard and understood will pay enormous dividends. They’ll refer their friends to you (good candidates normally have like-minded friends), refer business to you and keep coming back to you for as long as you’re recruiting. Branding Lesson Revels, Advocate - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Branding Lesson Revels, Advocate - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career As much as I enjoy discussing the similarities between personal and corporate branding, it is just as important to examine the relationship between the two as well as the nuances within. No matter your career vertical, an understanding of the way these two types of branding are connected coupled with the points where you can (and most likely will) garner success is of ultimate relevance. Granted, for optimal effectivity, we will have to assume a couple of crucial factors: The field in which you work is one where you have a personal connection; and You are a good match for the type of work you do. These assumptions will become crystal clear the further your read in this article. Revelry One of the best things about 2016, is the fact that more of us are searching for, or accepting no less than happiness in our jobs. Yes, it seems obvious that a happy worker is a better worker and subsequently, this is best for business, but hard data supports this further. For example: Happy employees are, on average, 12% more productive; Companies with happy employees outperform their competition by 20%; and 36% of employees would give up $5,000 in salary to be happier at work. Additionally, since there are numerous factors that could lead to any one of us participating in work purely because of necessity when we are happy at work, we are likely to  revel  in this environment. Why wouldnt we? We are working in a field that we feel close to, we are matched well with our particular job and our employer is happy because were more productive. Were in a great place. Advocacy Considering our revelry, the logical next step is that we would share the information around our happiness. We human beings are social creatures. We share information, especially emotional information. Whether we are happy or not, we are likely to let someone (or  some many) know. This communication can easily fall under the category of advocacy. As a matter of fact, many of you who are reading this, since this is a blog about branding, are familiar with the idea of getting consumers to advocate for your brand. Well, within a company, this level of advocacy is just as effective for your company. Consumers look at a number of elements of your brand when making a purchase decision. If you, as an employee, are genuinely happy with the company you work for, that happiness or advocacy can be contagious. The joy within advocacy draws people in. This is important to remember, in general, as well as with this final point. Credibility When it comes to brand credibility, both as an individual and as a business, there are many opportunities to show it such as thought leadership, social proof, and accountability. These three components are closely linked to each and every employee; A happy, knowledgeable employee who shares what s/he has learned at any point in their career not only provides value by educating others, they are increasing the visibility (and credibility) of the corporate brand; As social beings, we are apt to share information from similar or otherwise like-minded individuals. It feels more personal this way; and Because you are representing yourself  and the company you work for, an employee is going to be sure to make sure that they can stand their ground as they are automatically subject to criticism, both good and bad. All of these factors are important to know because they relate to what brands actually are and their complementary parts no matter how you want to represent them. Art + science or intellect + emotion, illustrating how it all works together is the easiest way to display what makes you and your business whole.

Interview with Sallie Krawcheck, CEO of Citigroups Global Wealth Management

Interview with Sallie Krawcheck, CEO of Citigroups Global Wealth Management I loved listeing to this interview with Sallie Krawcheck so much. I have been following Sallies career for years, and I had no idea I was going to see her in person until I showed up for the Forbes Executive Womens Forum for a speaking engagement, and there she was, speaking right before I did. She was mesmerizing: Funny, authentic, quick on her toes and gorgeous. But I most love her for her honesty. Everyone does. Even the Citigroup board of directors. Its how she got her job. The short history of Sallie is that she was an analyst on Wall Street and when the analysts started compromising ethics during the dotcom boom she was one of the most high-profile analysts who didnt, so her career went into super-high gear during the dotcom fallout. Now she is CEO of Citigroups Global Wealth Management. Shes the highest ranking woman in finance. [Editorial note: I didnt conduct this interview questions came from Forbes editor Elizabeth MacDonald and an audience of about sixty people. I edited the interview below, and changed questions. I was the audience member who asked the question about stay-at-home dads.] What is a good first job for someone who wants to run their own company? I tell all young people to become an analyst after school. You pull out bits of information and put together a picture. Sometimes it looks like a dog or sometimes a cake. Then you make decisions with imperfect information. And when you get another piece, you say oh its not a cake. So its practice making decision with imperfect information. This is what you do as a CEO every day. Why arent women at the top of companies? There is something about women getting tired. They get to be thirty and they get tired. Add up all the time that you are not with the kids and not working but you are doing hair and makeup while your husband sleeps. Its two-and-a-half hours a week. It drags you down. Also, women are not able to express anger at work because it reflects negatively on women. This makes women tired, too. I have a stay-at-home husband and its a train wreck. How do you work that out in your house? I had a stay-at-home husband and he went back to work. My first husband could not get over it and I had to choose another husband. I would come home from a meeting and Id say sorry Im late and hed roll his eyes. As soon as you get the eye roll you have a problem And in fact, he was having an affair. That was a waste of four good years, and I was cute then, too; I should have dated a lot more men than I did. I got a much better husband the second time around because I had had practice making decisions with imperfect information. How do you handle leaving the kids when you travel? The thing with the kids is to show no fear. If you show fear, they can smell it. Say, I love you and I cant wait to see you, but I love my work. I cry when I close the door. I went to China for two weeks. The kids were okay; I bribed them. I waited to tell my daughter until I took her to the American Idol concert. Whats your approach to work/life balance? When women get up there and talk to you about work life balance, they are lying to you. I work all the time. I sent 220 emails last weekend. The last time I went out for drinks on a weekday like Sex in the City was when I was twenty-two. This is not a bitter comment. Its a choice.

The Father of Two Story

The Father of Two Story Success stories are always worth sharing. They provide inspiration. This one is about a friend of a friend. Once upon a time, there was a father of two who was downsized from his position. He was victim of the hard-hit real estate/housing market. His position, real estate appraiser in the public sector. During the 10 months he was unemployed, he had been toying with the idea of taking any job just to end the horrible feeling of being without work. His self esteem was slipping and hewas experiencingwaves of depression. He decided not to take any job, because the $8/hr would be less than unemployment. (Wake upObama andPattersonwho continue to lengthen the term of UI benefits). Fast forward 10 months, hundreds of applications later, still no interviews. This father of two was nearing the end of his unemployment. He was touring a manufacturing plant, preparing to take a job as an assembler when he got the call from a local municipality for an interview. Mr. Father of Twohad taken a civil service examseveral months prior. This exam wasnt offeredvery oftenso he was smart to have found and taken it. Once he got off thecall scheduling himfor an interview he called my friend. He told her what was happening, thats all. My friend called her contacts at the municipality where hewould be interviewing. She didnt want to seemlike she was skewing the civil service process, but she did wantto put in a good word for her friend. She merely said she knew this gentleman personally and that he had shown good judgment and was of solid character. She also indicated that he would fit in easily withthe existing personnel within the municipality. Sure enough, he was the oneselected. There had only been two others in the race. The moral of this story: Pursue civil service opportunities and use your network! The End.
